... Was the cry that went out from DRC's indomitable Womens' quad at the start of the 3 Rivers race, striking terror into the hearts of the NSW State womens quad who quivered in their seats realising they had a serious race on their hands. The DRC girls were confident they would raise a good sweat so had abandoned surplus clothing at the Telegraph Point start line. And race the DRC crew did, finishing the 25km marathon in a literally blistering hour and 57 minutes and coming second in their category. In fact, so fast were they that the NBN News Cameras thought they'd won, as you can see here
Also breaking the two hour mark and registering a close category second was DRC's fearsome mixed double who managed to field an entry despite minor setbacks like breaking a hip bone in the lead up to the race.
Scoring a category first ...just... was DRC's 1x in a tight race to the line against Leichhardt Legend Tim Tindale.
All 7 DRC Rowers had a fantastic time thanks to the crew at Port Macquarie Rowing Club who welcomed all and layed on an incredible event despite minor problems like the toilet block at the start line being washed out to sea in the floods a few days before the race. Nothing they couldn't handle... PMRC's special arrangement with the almighty ensured perfect rowing conditions, sunshine, an outgoing tide and a downstream current, on the day. They even had a welcoming committtee stationed at the landing point to carry boats in for weary rowers. Our thanks to all at PMRC. We'll be back...
In fact we're already in training...
