Boatshed Matters

Published Sat 01 Jul 2017

Hi,

Just a couple of things happening in the boatshed that you need to be aware of:

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

A defibrillator will be installed at the gym end of the shed this Sunday. The unit will be housed in a box adjacent to the door to the stairs.

The box will have an alarm on it which will be activated when the door to the box is opened so please resist the urge to open it unless the defibrillator is required. The box has a glass front so you can see what is inside.

We will look to provide CPR training, including the use of the defibrillator as soon as we can organise.

Sculling Oar Racking

You will be aware that the racking at the front of the shed is quite congested. We are trying to complete the oar storage racks on the rolling scull racks so that anyone with a private scull on the rolling racks, will also be able to store their oars with the boat. This will free up more racking for club oars.

In Bay 3 (the one with the 8+'s), we will devote the racks on the right hand side, to the 4X sets of oars purchased some time ago for the Wearne and Hammond. These oars are are marked and are exclusively for use with these boats so please ensure they are not used for any other boat.

Hoses

Please remember to turn off the taps when you have finished with washing equipment. When they are left on they build pressure and cause the fittings to deteriorate very quickly.

Putting Away Equipment

Please remember after you row to put away any stretchers and tinnies if it appears there are no other boats out from that bay. It can be frustrating for crews coming back later, having to put away equipment that could have been put away by other crews.

Lights

Once again, please remember to ensure you have 2 working lights on your boat when rowing before dawn. We now have a supply of batteries in the white plastic tub near the sink in the gym. Please use them if you think your lights are a little dim.

J B Sharp

Just a reminder that our J B Sharp regatta is on this Sunday. Please come along to help out.

Best of luck to anyone racing in the event.

Thanks
