Hi,
With spring just around the corner, we celebrate the end of the cold weather and look forward to the fantastic rowing conditions that spring normally brings. The next few months are very busy on the rowing calendar and a lot is happening:
AGM
Thank you to all our members who attended the AGM on Sunday 19th. The attendance was the best for many years showing a greater level of engagement in the club and it's future.
The out going committee members were all re-elected ensuring our focus on the Strategic Plan and Vision continues.
A vote saw the Vice Captain role go to Oscar Fawkes. I would like to thank John Sheldrick for his tireless effort in the role over the last few years and look forward to his continued valuable involvement on the committee for the next year.
A number of constitutional changes were voted and approved by the members. The minutes of the AGM outlining the changes will be available on the website soon.
Around the Shed
The floor in the PLC bay is currently being repaired to improve it's non slip surface. The work will take 3 days and include further repairs to the concrete slab. The disruption to boating will be minimal.
The holes in a number of boats have been repaired. Once we started looking, we discovered many small holes, mostly, it would appear, caused by pins from other boats or trestle corners. Only a handful of the holes or damage were reported. Please ensure you report any damage or maintenance issue so that we can get onto it quickly. Remember also that if you have a maintenance issue that you can fix, please do. It saves waiting for us to get to it ensuring the boat is not out of action for too long.
Tara/PLC Programs
Tara and PLC are back on the water for their Term 3 programs.
Tara has there total squad down on Sunday and PLC will be doing Monday and Friday mornings from next week. Please ensure that DRC members have boated before 5.30am. If you boat after that time, PLC have priority so you may have to wait a while to get on the water.
Shed and On Water Safety
With the weather warming there will be a lot more crews on the water so we need to step up our awareness while we are on the water. Please make sure that you follow the published boat flow on the bay and stay well on the correct side. As we get involved in our pieces we can lose track of where we are with the potential of drifting onto the wrong side of the bay and into the face of oncoming boats.
While it is getting lighter earlier, it is still necessary to carry lights until sunrise. It is each crew's responsibility to equip their boat with the correct lights. Spare batteries are kept in the set of draws in the kitchen area.
Please keep the shed and surrounds clean and make sure all the equipment is put away correctly.
Upcoming Events
The season starting head races have begun with the Nepean Head for scullers run last weekend with a large contingent of Drummoyne entries.

We are keen to get as many club members involved in these events as possible. Put your crews together early for the distance races as we need to organise transport to the Nepean and Shoalhaven.
Get a team together for the relay races or go it alone at the NSW Indoors. As we are the host club, it would be great to support this event.
Information on all events is available in the Regatta Schedule on the Rowing NSW site.
Centenary
The next Back to DRC BBQ will be held in October. We will send out the event flyer in the next few days.
See you on the pontoon.
