DRC @ Small Boats Regatta-SIRC

Published Mon 30 Jan 2017

The Small Boats Regatta (Races only for 1x,2x,2-) was held last Saturday at SIRC.

DRC was represented by 10 rowers, a mix of Masters and Youth, Male and Female.

Whilst the course was as usual, near perfect, the temperature was not ideal, reaching the 30's early and nearly making 40 for those racing in the afternoon.

DRC was represented in many events, the Masters Single Sculls, Doubles,Pairs, U23,U21 & U17 with the highlight performances coming from 2 of our youths.

Eve Timms in her first ever 2000m race, qualified through her heat row to make the Final of the U17 W1x. A great effort and achievement.

&

Peter Waldersee showed ticker and class to row through his Sydney competitor to place 1st in the U21 Lightweight 1x. 2 seconds down with 500m to go, Peter  looked left to check his position. From that point on the rate and absolute resolve intensified, and as the Sydney Competitor also lifted Peter did whatever he needed to move into the lead in the last few strokes to win by 0.25sec.

They are both coached by DRC's Robyn Mackney.

** Full Results are attached.

DRC will again be competing next Sunday at the Balmain Regatta on the Iron Cove.
